The GS Alpi season closed in style: the Granfondo Alassio was the final event organized by the Lombardy organizing committee, allowing the many enthusiasts who didn’t want to miss out on a beautiful day of sun and sea on the Ligurian coast.
Gianni Bugno, two-time world champion, winner of the Giro d’Italia and Milan-San Remo, and winner of the Tour of Flanders and the Classic of San Sebastian, to name just a few of the victories in his exceptional career, kicked off the race, which drew approximately 600 cyclists from all over Italy and beyond. Bugno kicked off the race alongside the deputy mayor of Alassio, Angelo Galtieri. Both were also present at the final awards ceremony.
The race was extremely competitive from the very first kilometers, with no group able to make a significant difference in the first 50 kilometers. Only in the second part of the race, which totaled 90 km, did the best riders gain an advantage. Alberto Nardin (BCP Bike) emerged victorious at the end of the climb to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Guardia, edging out Luca Cavallo (om.cc) by 9 seconds. Patrick Facchini (Team Sildom Garda) climbed to third place on the overall podium, 2’20” behind the winner.
Roberta Bussone triumphed in the women’s race. The Rodman rider took a solo victory: Martina Cavallo (om.cc) took second, while Maria Elena Palmisano (Team Garda Matergia) took third.
At the end of the race, where all cyclists were able to ride along the Ligurian roads in complete safety, the final pasta party and awards ceremony were held on the seafront in Alassio. “It was truly a fantastic day,” said a satisfied Vittorio Mevio, president of the GS Alpi, “with a truly pleasant temperature and lots of sunshine. We’re truly delighted with the many positive feedback we’ve received from all the participants: this race concludes a very successful 2025 for our team, and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2026 with our calendar.”
