Anticipation is growing for the Granfondo Alassio 2025, one of the most prestigious events on the national amateur calendar, scheduled for Sunday, September 28 in the splendid setting of the Ligurian Riviera.

Making this edition unforgettable will be the presence of a champion who has written extraordinary pages in cycling history: Gianni Bugno. He, a two-time World Champion in 1991 and 1992, will officially open the event, providing fans with a unique experience.

The Municipality of Alassio and the Gs Alpi, the event’s organizing committee, express great pride and gratitude for having an icon of Italian sport at their side: “Having Gianni Bugno at the start of the Granfondo Alassio is a privilege for our city and for all the cyclists who will participate. His presence represents recognition of the value of our event and a sign of solidarity with the world of amateur cycling, which has always admired and respected him,” they jointly stated.

Gianni Bugno was one of the most accomplished and beloved cyclists of his era. During his career, he won:

  • 2 consecutive Road World Championships (Stuttgart 1991, Benidorm 1992)
  • 1 Giro d’Italia (1990)
  • 1 Tour of Flanders (1994)
  • 1 Milan-San Remo (1990)
  • 1 San Sebastian Classic (1991)

His elegant style, versatile talent, and ability to compete at the highest levels in various disciplines have made him a point of reference for generations of cyclists and fans.

The Granfondo Alassio thus confirms its vocation as an event that combines sport, passion, and promotion of the region, attracting cyclists from all over Italy and abroad. The route, nestled between the sea and the Ligurian hills, will offer breathtaking scenery and a thrilling challenge for all enthusiasts.

The Granfondo Alassio will unfold over a single 90.6 km route with 1,790 meters of elevation gain, starting from the sea and immediately climbing towards the Ligurian hills, amid breathtaking scenery and roads beloved by professional cyclists. The grand finale will, as always, be at the summit, finishing at the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Guardia, a climb that will undoubtedly select the strongest. A pasta party and final awards ceremony will take place by the sea at the end of a day that promises to be a great experience for all.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025: under the gaze and greeting of a champion who has made the history of world cycling, participants will live a unique experience on the streets of Alassio.
